Σήμερα, Πέμπτη, 6 Οκτωβρίου 2011, έφυγε από τη ζωή ένας από τους γνωστότερους οραματιστές της τεχνολογίας των προσωπικών υπολογιστών, ο Steve Jobs. Ήταν ο ένας εκ των συνιδρυτών της εταιρείας υπολογιστών Apple, πρόεδρος και διευθύνων σύμβουλος αυτής. Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι στη θυγατρική της Microsoft (ανταγωνίστριας εταιρείας της Apple) στη Βρετανία, η σημαία της εταιρείας κυμάτιζε μεσίστια, εξαιτίας του θανάτου του Steve Jobs.
Όπως συμβαίνει πάντα με τους σημαντικούς ανθρώπους, η απώλεια τους γίνεται αφορμή για τα διδάγματα της ζωής τους. Και η ζωή του Jobs έχει πολλά να μας διδάξει.
Ο άνθρωπος που ξεπερνά το φόβο της αβεβαιότητας, ελπίζοντας πως όλα θα παν κατ’ ευχήν, μπορεί κάποια μέρα να γίνει ένας άλλος Steve Jobs. Φτάνει να βρει νωρίς τι πραγματικά του αρέσει και να εμπιστευτεί κάτι ή κάποιον…
Το μήνυμα της ζωής του, διατυπώνεται σε πρώτο πρόσωπο: Και αν ακόμα η ζωή σε χτυπήσει κατακέφαλα –όπως το Steve (πολύ πριν αρρωστήσει), όταν στα τριάντα του τον απέλυσαν από την Apple, την εταιρεία που ίδρυσε στο γκαράζ του σπιτιού του μαζί με το Steve Wozniak–, έχει σημασία: να μην χάνεις την πίστη σου, την αγάπη σου για αυτό που σου αρέσει, να μη βολεύεσαι, να μην τα παρατάς, να ζεις την κάθε μέρα σου σαν να είναι η τελευταία, να θυμάσαι το θάνατο: «Το να θυμάμαι πάντα πως σύντομα θα πεθάνω, ήταν η καλύτερη βοήθεια για να παίρνω τις σωστές αποφάσεις στη ζωή μου», είπε κάποτε ο Steve Jobs (σαν να ήταν Αγιορείτης Γέροντας).
Την αγαπημένη του ευχή την είχε διαβάσει στο τελευταίο τεύχος της «Βίβλου» της γενιάς του, μιας έκδοσης που λεγόταν: «Κατάλογος Όλης της Γης» (Whole Earth Catalog). Εκεί έγραφε: «μείνετε αχόρταγοι• μείνετε τρελαμένοι» (Stay Hungry - Stay Foolish).
Με αυτή την ευχή θα τον αποχαιρετήσουμε. Steve, ακόμα και στον παράδεισο: μείνε αχόρταγος• μείνε τρελαμένος…

Michelle and I are saddened to learn of the passing of Steve Jobs. Steve was among the greatest of American innovators - brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it.
By building one of the planet's most successful companies from his garage, he exemplified the spirit of American ingenuity. By making computers personal and putting the internet in our pockets, he made the information revolution not only accessible, but intuitive and fun. I'm truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs' death. Melinda and I extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone Steve has touched through his work.
Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives.
